Sempat dicibir sebagai salah satu pengekor seri game open world paling populer di industri game – Grand Theft Auto di awal kelahirannya, Saints Row kini tumbuh sebagai salah satu alternatif pesaing yang tidak bisa dipandang sebelah mata. Perlahan namun pasti, franchise andalan Volition Inc. yang kini berada di bawah bendera Deep Silver ini menemukan karakteristik dan fitur khususnya, menjadi identitas yang tidak tergantikan. Setelah kehadiran sang seri ketiga yang terhitung berhasil di pasaran, Volition akhirnya merilis sang seri teranyar – Saints Row IV ke pasaran.
Sempat didesain sebagai DLC untuk Saints Row III – Enter the Dominatrix, Volition akhirnya memutuskan untuk merilisnya sebagai seri terpisah, dengan beragam penambahan konten, cerita, dan fitur, yang akhirnya melahirkan game ini kembali dengan nama yang berbeda – Saints Row IV. Sejak awal pengenalannya kepada publik, Volition sudah mengusung satu pesan sama yang terus berulang-ulang: bahwa Saints Row IV akan tampil jauh lebih gila! Tidak lagi sekedar perang senjata futuristik, Anda kini akan diperkuat dengan kemampuan super dan perang melawan para alien yang tengah menginvasi bumi. The weirdness just reach a whole new level!
Berbeda dengan kehadiran seri-seri sebelumnya yang terus menghadirkan setting yang berbeda, Saints Row IV akan kembali membawa Anda ke Steelport, kota yang sama yang menjadi media utama perang epic yang terjadi di Saints Row III. Anda bahkan akan tetap berperan sebagai The Boss, yang kini bersama dengan dua ajudan terbaiknya – Pierce dan Shandi tengah berjuang untuk menggagalkan rencana Cyrus yang meluncurkan sebuah rudal berkepala nuklir ke Washington DC. Seperti yang bisa diprediksi, The Boss, dengan dramatis berhasil menggagalkan rencana jahat ini. Lima tahun setelah event ini, dengan popularitas yang berhasil ia dapatkan, The Boss terpilih sebagai Presiden Amerika Serikat.
Tidak hanya mengemban gaya kepemimpinan yang eksentrik, The Boss ternyata harus berhadapandengan ancaman yang jauh lebih besar, sebuah serangan ras alien bernama Zin dengan teknologi yang jauh lebih canggih di bawah kepemimpinan seorang Warlord bernama Zinyak. Tidak hanya mengurung The Boss dalam sebuah simulasi Steelport, Zinyak juga berhasil menghancurkan bumi secara fisik. Satu-satunya cara untuk mengalahkan Zinyak kini terletak pada satu media: simulasi itu sendiri. Tak ubahnya film Matrix, mereka yang diselamatkan di simulasi akan terbangun secara fisik di dunia nyata, menjadi ekstra tenaga untuk perang yang juga dikobarkan oleh The Boss.

Saints Row: The Third, juga dikenal sebagai Saints Row 3, SRTT atau SR3, adalah permainan aksi petualangan dunia terbuka yang dikembangkan oleh Volition, Inc. dan diedarkan oleh THQ.
