Ketika sebagian besar game action lainnya memungkinkan Anda untuk menghancurkan setiap ancaman dengan sangat mudah, Resident Evil menyuntikkan mekanik gameplay dan pesona yang berbeda – sebuah dunia yang mencekam tetapi sekaligus juga menantang. Sayangnya, daya tarik ini kian tergerus seiring dengan perkembangan tren industri game sendiri. Resident Evil perlahan namun pasti, bergerak menjadi sebuah game action.
Resident Evil 4 yang menjadi monumen perubahan ini. Mendapatkan review positif dan pujian lewat perubahan ekstrim third person shooter-nya yang nyaman, futuristik, namun sekaligus tetap mempertahankan identitas yang selama ini melekat pada jati diri franchise, Capcom menemukan sebuah bentuk baru yang luar biasa. Namun sayangnya, beberapa inovasi di sisi aksi yang mereka paksakan di seri keenamnya justru mencederai apa yang selama ini berusaha dibangun oleh Mikami. Resident Evil kian terasa seperti sebuah game action mainstream dan kehilangan jati dirinya.
Padahal di sisi lain, Nintendo 3DS baru saja kedatangan sebuah seri alternatif yang justru mampu tampil memesona. Sebuah seri “eksklusif” yang akhirnya dirilis kembali dalam definisi tinggi – Resident Evil Revelations.
Anda yang sempat membaca preview kami sebelumnya tentu saja sudah memiliki sedikit gambaran akan apa yang sebenarnya ditawarkan oleh seri yang satu ini.  Kami bahkan secara terbuka menyebutnya sebagai sebuah seri yang jauh lebih baik daripada Resident Evil 6. Apa yang sebenarnya ia tawarkan? Kualitas seperti apa yang membuat kami melihatnya sebagai sebuah “seri klasik” yang sudah lama dirindukan oleh para penggemar Resident Evil? Review ini akan mengupasnya lebih dalam untuk Anda.

Sebuah sinar meluncur dari angkasa, menghanguskan sebuah kota yang seharusnya menjadi rumah untuk begitu banyak mimpi. Serangan BOW (Bio-Organic Weapon) oleh sebuah kelompok teroris yang menamakan dirinya – Veltro terpaksa membuat pemerintah mengulang malapetaka yang sempat terjadi di Raccoon City, menghancurkan sebuah kota futuristik – Terragrigia beserta dengan semua isinya. Konfrontasi yang dilakukan oleh Veltro pun mampu diredam dan aktivitas organisasi teroris yang satu ini pun tenggelam begitu saja. Namun ancaman terhadap penyalahgunaan BOW tidak pernah selesai. Sebuah sinyal berbahaya mengemuka – dari lepas pantai Terragrigia. Dari sebuah kapal besar terbengkalai – Queen Zenobia.

Jill Valentine dan Parker pun ditugaskan untuk mencari keberadaan Chris yang dicurigai hilang di dalam kapal masif yang satu ini. Namun misi pencarian menjadi awal dari mimpi terburuk bagi kedua karakter yang satu ini. Keberadaan mutasi senjata BOW yang baru muncul, menebarkan terror, dan menjadi ancaman terbaru. Tidak hanya itu saja, organisasi Veltro yang sudah lama tenggelam juga kembali menunjukkan jati diri mereka – mengungkap sebuah konspirasi untuk menyebarkan ancaman senjata biologis yang jauh lebih destruktif. Namun usaha untuk menghentikan rencana ini dari dalam Zenobia justru membawa Chris – Parker, beserta dengan Chris dan partner barunya – Jessica untuk jatuh ke dalam pusaran konspirasi yang jauh lebih besar. Pengkhianatan dan kematian menjadi dua elemen yang tidak bisa terpisahkan.
